Centre for Socio-Political Research and Information (Centre de recherche et d’information socio-politiques – CRISP) is an independent organisation which aims to provide thorough and impartial information on political, social and economic life.
CRISP's research focuses primarily on showing the challenges of political decision-making, in Belgium and in the European context, on explaining the mechanisms by which it operates, and on analysing the role of the actors who are involved, regardless of whether these actors are political, economic, social, associative, etc.
CRISP relies on a team of around ten researchers, who are assisted by librarians and administrative staff. It also publishes the work of external collaborators whose work falls within its editorial line.
The results of these studies are made available to the general public and specialised circles through publications (most of which are freely accessible on this site), during conferences or training courses, and through broadcasts and media interviews.
Established in 1958, CRISP offers an incomparable wealth of data and analyses on the evolution of Belgium, particularly since the Second World War. It has gained its reputation through the seriousness and richness of its collections and its activity. CRISP’s history was retraced to mark its 50th anniversary, and can be discovered here.

CRISP is a scientific research organisation, which is recognised in particular by the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles as a lifelong education association and as an operator on a mission to analyse and offer information on political decisions and their social effects. CRISP is a non-profit organisation. Its revenue comes from various activities (subscriptions and sale of publications, mainly) and subsidies from the French Community of Belgium (Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles), the Walloon Region, the German-Speaking Community (Ostbelgien), the Belgian Federal Authorities, the F.R.S.-FNRS and the University Foundation. These grants are conditional on compliance with quality and independence criteria.
