The media are a community matter. The French Community for the French linguistic region, and the German-speaking Community for the German linguistic region, are competent for media policy, including aid to the press.

The Walloon Region, which is responsible for economic development and aid to companies, develops support measures for the audiovisual sector (Sowalim investment fund).
