Disabilities policy is a community matter, where the French Community has transferred its responsibility for the French linguistic region to the Walloon Region. It is thus the Walloon Region for the French linguistic region, and the German-speaking Community for the German linguistic region, which are responsible for disabilities policy.

The Walloon Region has set up the Walloon Agency for the Integration of Disabled People (AWIPH) and the German-speaking Community has set up the Agency for Disabled People (DPB).

However, the Federal Authority is responsible for the rules and financing of benefits, as well as for financial interventions for employers of disabled people.

The provinces play the role of organising authority in this respect.
